Unit 3 – Homophones, Homonyms, and Homographs

Homographs are words with different meanings and pronunciations but same spellings, while homonyms are words with different meanings but same spellings and pronunciations. Homographs are words such as read (reed) and read (red).

Unit 5 – Nouns

Nouns are words that stand for people, places, ideas or things, nouns are classified differently depending on how they are used.

Unit 8 – Adjectives

Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence. The Articles ‘a’, ‘an’, and ‘the’ are adjectives.

Unit 6 – Verbs

Verbs are action words, or doing words. They tell us what somebody or something is doing in a sentence.

Unit 7 – Adverbs

An adverb is a part of speech that describes or modifies a verb, an adjective, another adverb, clause, or sentence. Adverbs are words that tells us more about verbs

Unit 9 – Participles

Participles are formed from verbs. There are two types: present participles and past participles. Present participles end …ing. Past participles have various endings.

Unit 10 – Tenses

Verbs which express actions anytime in the past are said to be in the past tense. Verbs which express present actions are said to be in the present tense. Verbs which express actions in the future are said to be in the future tense.
